Hey folks, hope all is well! Today I am working on an update to the spout’s stepper enclosure.

While working on the combined PCB, I wanted to replace the surface mount TRRS jacks with a through-hole version. Those jacks take a lot of a force when inserting the cable, so it’s not a great fit for surface mount. I was having trouble sourcing the right part but ended up with overall better solution.

The spout stepper will now use an RJ45 connector as we do in other components. This will also allow me to send the limit switch signal through the same cable, so one less connection and cable to maintain. I have created a new PCB for the spout. Going to revise it slightly to also include the pin out for the cone mech’s status LEDs, then we can use the same PCB for both components.

This also required an update to the spout’s stepper mount. The end result is an improvement on the previous design. The limit switch is now integrated directly into the mount:

I’m printing a fit test right now, and once confirmed I will complete the enclosure design. Just need to add the outer walls and a lid. PCB will go to fab tonight.

This week I will likely be working on other small fixes/completions like this one. From there I will be back on software testing, going through all the frontend workflows. Still a week or two away from any new demos.

Cheers!
